AFMS SSC Medical Officer Recruitment 2024: Online applications are invited for the post of Short Service Commissioned Medical Officer in the Armed Forces Medical Services (Army Medical Corps Recruitment 2024) from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS (Part-I & II) examination in not more than two attempts and will complete / have completed their internship on or before 15 Aug 2024 and have qualified in the NEET PG (anytime during the last two years i.e 2022 & 2023).
Civilian doctors who have a Post Graduate degree will not be required to appear in the NEET PG again. Marks obtained by them in NEET PG examination earlier will be taken into consideration. (Applicants who have taken more than two chances to pass the Final MBBS (Part I & II) Examination are ineligible and hence should not apply for the same).

| Emoluments for AFMS SSC Medical Officer Recruitment 2024 (Army Medical Corps Recruitment 2024): Doctors on commissioning in the Armed Forces Medical Services for SSC Medical Officer Recruitment 2024 will be granted the rank of Captain (or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force) in 10B level of Defence Pay Matrix of BP Rs. 61300 + MSP Rs. 15500 + HRA (if applicable) as per category of the city, (i.e X, Y, Z, where the officer is posted) + NPA at prevalent rates + Transport Allowance Rs. 3600-7200 as per the category of the city, (i.e X, Y, Z where the officer is posted) + Dress Allowance Rs. 20,000 (Annually) and Dearness Allowance as per prevalent rates. In addition, officers are entitled ration or ration allowance in lieu (as per location of Posting & Notification to that effect) subsidized accommodation and allied facilities. PG degree holders are eligible for PG allowance or specialist pay on being designated as Graded Specialist as per Training Rules applicable from time to time. | Shortlisting of candidates for Interview | Applications complete in all respects will be further scrutinized/ filtered on the basis of NEET PG entrance examination marks. Marks obtained by the candidates in NEET PG entrance examination will be proportionately converted to the tune of 200 marks and separate lists for male & female candidates will be prepared. Candidates will be called up for interview in the order of the list (separate lists for male and female candidates) based upon NEET PG examination marks upto 08 times of the number of vacancies sanctioned / available to appear for viva-voce/ interview. | ||
| Interview | Eligible candidates will be called for interview by a Board of Officers in the month of Aug / Sep 2024 at the Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt to assess their suitability and merit for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The candidates appearing for interview for the first time will be paid to and fro III AC railway/bus fare. | ||
| Physical & Medical Standards | Every candidate on qualifying in the interview will have to attend the Special Medical Examination Board (SMB) constituted by the DGAFMS for examining his / her medical fitness as per laid down standards. The proceedings will remain confidential. However, candidates declared ‘UNFIT’ by the Special Medical Board (SMB) may apply for the Appeal Medical Board (AMB). The procedure for AMB will be explained by the President of Special Medical Board. Candidates are advised to note that DGAFMS/DG-1A has no role to play in Appeal Medical Boards (AMB) and the procedure advised by the medical authorities is strictly to be adhered to. The Candidates declared ‘UNFIT’ by the AMB may apply for the Review Medical Board (RMB). However, Review Medical Board (RMB) will be granted at the discretion of the DGAFMS based on the merits of the case. No representation in this regard will be entertained. Candidates will be considered medically ‘FIT’ only on receipt of approved medical documents. Pregnancy, if detected at any stage, after qualification at interview or during pre- commission Medical Examination will render the candidate ‘TEMPORARILY UNFIT’. | ||
| Tenure of Engagement for AFMS SSC Medical Officer Recruitment 2024 | |||
| For Fresh Candidates: The tenure of SSC officers commissioned through the civil entry scheme is of five years, extendable by another nine years in two spells, first of five years and second of four years, in terms of GoI letter No. 4(3)/2007/D(Med) dt 02 Nov 2007, for those who are willing to continue, subject to availability of vacancies and meeting the laid down eligibility criteria for grant of extension as per extant policy. For Ex-AMC Candidates: (i) Released AMC/SSC officers will be eligible for grant of fresh tenure of Short Service Commission provided such officers apply within one year of the effective date of their release. The process of selection remains the same as for others as mentioned in previous paragraphs. (ii) Candidates released after expiry of 10 (ten) years of SSC service will not be considered again for grant of commission in the AMC. (iii) Candidates released from the AMC on resignation/ premature retirement will not be considered again for commission in the AMC. | |||
